UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP explores the relationship between the body and emotions, focusing on the perception of individual and collective happiness and their representation and experience in the physical body. In doing so, it maintains a critical stance towards the currently dominant perception of happiness within a capitalist framework, where it is understood primarily in relation to material and personal gratification.
In the current world situation, the concept of happiness is also being rethought in the European context. Is it true that we do not recognize and value happiness until we are (life) threatened?

Jernej Bizjak is a dancer, choreographer, pedagogue, and producer. He studied at CODARTS, Rotterdam Dance Academy in The Netherlands. In 2010 he joined IT Dansa in Barcelona and in 2012 he became a member of the Danish Dance Theatre in Copenhagen. He is freelancing since 2015 and has participated in various productions and independent projects with Korzo Theatre, Fors Works, Andersson Dance, Helsingborg City Theatre, Royal Swedish Opera, Skånes Dansteater, MUOVI-Fabio Liberti etc. Jernej is a member of the artistic collective Institute 0.1 and a co-founder of the cultural association DUK47, both based in Slovenia.

For the slightly older children and adults, the show UP-AND-DOWN-AND-UP- explored what even simple movements can do to one's state of mind. Three dancers appear in the folds of what will soon become a giant white, inflatable bouncy castle. The audience is invited in teams to jump together with the dancers. A fun work that can well take the breath away from one, produced by Institute 0.1.
